Wapi Gaming is a technology consulting company that specializes in providing innovative and economically efficient technology solutions to casino operators. Wapi was founded in anticipation of the legalization of online gambling in order to provide guidance to established brick and mortar casino operators as they seek to exploit opportunities in online gaming. Wapi Gaming has a firm understanding of the casino industry as well as the online gaming space, and uses that expertise to provide its clients with best in class products and solutions.
Wapi is led by a team of dedicated professionals with hands-on industry experience and expertise. Our principals and team members have diverse professional backgrounds, with experience in the fields of technology, finance, law, entertainment and management, enabling us to provide comprehensive solutions in an industry with no clear-cut divisions. Further, through our proficiency and connectivity in both the technology and gaming arenas, we are uniquely-positioned to provide clients with the highest-quality experience on a wide range of engagements.
The regulatory environment governing online gaming is changing rapidly. With the recent Department of Justice opinion declaring that the 1961 Wire Act (which restricts wire transfers across state borders for the purpose of gambling) only applies to sports betting, there is now nothing preventing individual states from legalizing online poker on an intrastate basis. Nevada and Washington, D.C. moved quickly to pass bills to legalize online gambling, while lawmakers in California, Illinois, Iowa and New Jersey have indicated that they plan on introducing legislation shortly.
Analysts project that within one year, online gambling will be legal within at least fifteen different states, and by the end of 2014, online gaming is expected to be a $46.3 billion industry. Brand awareness is of critical importance, and accordingly, land-based casinos with established brand names are best-positioned to succeed in the space. As the number of partnerships between land casinos and online operators is expected to increase significantly due to high start-up costs, operators with proprietary technology are expected to become increasingly important players within the industry.
Utilizing our knowledge of online gaming platforms and expertise in the casino industry, we guide and advise casino operators on their transition into the largely unchartered online world. We bring a unique level of insight into and command of the drivers that are shaping the business model destined to define the next generation of commerce in the gaming industry, and our work with clients is focused on enabling casino operators to capitalize on lucrative opportunities across the marketplace.
